Teds Woodworking 16,000 Plans Scam

Although Teds Woodworking 16,000 plans is popular as one the woodworking plans on the net. Subscribers of the plans have discovered that it a fruad.
According to Matthias of www.woodgears.ca, it’s a messy furniture plans illegally stolen by the Mr. So Called Teds from the sites and magazines of the rightful owners. Name said further and I quote:

“Ted's plans are actually a rather poor subset of what is available on the web free of charge. The actual number of plans in the package is less than 2500, nowhere near the claimed 16,000. There is a search box on the Ted's woodworking main page that allows you to search the plans, towards the bottom of the front page. Try typing in some random jumble of letters there and see what "results" come up. Further evidence of scam!”

Who is This Guy?

Furthermore, the address on Ted’s website tedswoodworking.com:

Ted "Woody" Mcgrath
219 Tama Street
Slater, IA 50244
United States

Has been investigated and there’s nothing like that.

When the WHO’s of Teds woodworking site was investigated, the result shows that the website is registered with this details:

Richard Butler (@tedswoodworking.com)
+84.0851185580
Fax: +1.5555555555
27 Northway
Bridgemary
Gosport, HAMPSHIRE PO13 0XF
IE

As you can see from the details, IE is Ireland, yet there’s no place called  Gosport, Hampshire in Ireland. Also the country code of 84 on the phone number is for Vietnam.

Richard Butler (provided the name is real) has probably not done a day of woodworking in his life and probably spends his days finding ways to rip honest people off.”

MyBoatPlans – A WoodWork Review

MyBoatPlans – A Wood Work Review

MyBoatPlans is a comprehensive collection of 518 boat plans, 40 videos and about 500 pages of boat building guides. I've just bought the entire package and this is my review on the product:

What Is MyBoatPlans?

The product offers step by step blueprints on over 518 boats and video lessons on boat building. The creator, Martin Reid offers a simple, efficient and user-friendly system to construct any type of boats in a simple way. MyBoatPlans shows the user how to build over 500 different types of boats ranging from simple canoes and kayaks to complex designs like a cabin cruiser.

            Check this video

The Pros:

Below are some of the points I was really impressed with.

1.      A Huge Range of Plans To Choose From
They provide you with detailed plans and diagrams, complete with color pictures and examples on many types of boats.  Sailboats, skiffs, canoes, kayaks, houseboats, paddle boats, yachts, catamarans, flat-bottom boats, dinghys and dories, to name a few.  There are multiple plans available for each kind of boat, so you have some variety to choose from.
2.     The video section is comprehensive
The 45+ videos on boat building leaves no stone unturned. It consists of the entire boat building process from conception to the final product. It is great for beginners who want an easy to follow video guide on boat construction. There are also videos on boat repair and boat design calculations which are great for professional builders
3.     Great bonuses included
The bonuses you get with this product are great.  You get a FREE boat designing software, a book on boat construction tips and the boat-builders handbook which is huge in and of itself.
4.     Full Color Pictures
I appreciated the amount of full color pictures and diagrams that are included in the manuals. I’m a very visual person, so it is easier for me to follow a picture or diagram instead of reading paragraphs.
5.      Money Back Policy
The 60 day money back guarantee is always appreciated.  I like seeing a merchant who stands behind their product 100%.  It puts the consumer at ease, knowing that they aren’t going to lose a cent if they choose to not use the system.

The Cons:

1.     It takes a while to download
Due to the huge amount of content available, there is about 900 megabytes to download. This may take a while if you have a slow connection. However you can opt for the DVD edition in the members’ area so that solves the issue if you're on a slow network
2.     Less than 20 mega yacht designs
I would like to see more mega yacht designs and plans. This would be great for professional boat builders like me who are interested in mega yacht designs.

Conclusion:

MyBoatPlans is a great collection anyway you look at it. It is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned builders alike. It offer great value for money considering the one-time price you pay for such an extensive system.

The Top 5 Most Popular Small Boats You Can Build

If you love to work with your hands, have basic carpentry skills and love the water, you should consider building your own boat. Building your own boat can save you lots of money.  Along with the savings, you get the satisfaction and pride of having done the job yourself.  Today, it’s easier than ever to build your own boat because the Internet offers a wealth of boat-building resources.

You may be not sure which small boat is the right one for you to try your hand at building.  There is a variety of small boats to choose from.  The right one for you will depend upon several factors, like what type of activity you plan to use it for and the kind of water you intend to use it on.  Let’s take a look at five popular types for you to consider.

1     Rowboats: Rowboats are simple boats that are propelled through the water with the use of oars.  Rowboats aren’t built for speed.  They are meant to be used for more leisurely activities, like casually traversing a lake or pond or rowing to and from ships.

2     Dinghy:  A dinghy is a small boat which is often towed by a larger vessel.  There are several varieties, including recreational open sailing boats and small racing yachts.  These boats are normally rowboats, but some are rigged for sailing.  Dinghies are used for off-ship excursions from bigger boats, outside of docking at marinas and ports of the proper size.  Sailing dinghies are best for beginner training in sailing, rather than larger sloops, since they have a quicker response to both correct and incorrect maneuvers.

3     Skiff: A skiff, which means “small boat,” is small enough for rowing or sailing by one person.  It may be propelled by oars, sail or a motor.

4    Canoe: A canoe is a slender, open boat which tapers to a point at both ends.  It may be propelled by paddles or even sails.  Traditionally, it is formed of light framework and covered with bark, canvas or skins.  It can also be formed from a dug-out or burned-out log or logs but is now generally made of fiberglass, aluminum, etc.

5     Kayak:  A kayak is a boat traditionally used by the Inuit. It has a light frame and is covered, these days, by fiberglass or canvas.

The Internet offers everything from thousands of plans to advice on building materials and techniques.  Now that you’ve got an idea of which boat may be right for you, go ahead, give boat building a try!
